I am so glad you are here and taking steps to improve your mental wellness. Small change over time adds up, I encourage my clients to make changes one degree at a time.
I have 12 years of experience in the social work field. I love helping people from all backgrounds find their strength and start making new paths in their lives. I use a strength based approach that is trauma informed, client centred, using tools from my trainings in DBT, CBT, EFFT, Indigenous Focused Trauma therapy, and various other trainings. I love learning, and I am always trying to find new ways and strategies to support my clients with anxiety, depression, interpersonal relationship challenges, and life transition stresses, including those related to gender diversity.
I’m especially passionate about supporting family members/caregivers who have a loved one with a significant mental illness, or behavioural problems. These challenges impact the whole family. Caregivers can be crucial to recovery, healing and day to day functioning.
However, this is a difficult role to fill whether you are parent, grandparent, partner, sibling or another close relationship. As a support person you need help too, so you don’t burn out. I can provide strategies to support your loved one, as well as space to be validated yourself, and work on your own self-compassion around filling this difficult role. Sometimes the best help you can get for your children is getting help for yourself.
I feel privileged to be invited into people’s lives and hold space for them, so they do not have to feel alone in their journey to wellness.
